Description

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Facilities catering teams across all the trust, with specific responsibility for undertaking independent auditing across the Trust and the delivery of all reports for hygiene checks, ward audits.

These primary duties will help support a safe and risk free food service being maintained for the trust.


The main elements of the job role are, to ensure that through undertaking of catering auditing that hygiene standards are maintained and/or enhanced and awareness of the importance of hygiene standards is understood by all staff groups who carry work in these areas.

That through delivering reports, advice and training to all staff engaged in these areas. This will increase confidence and professional standards across those areas.


The post holder will be required to work closely with the catering manager, community facilities managers and dietitians to ensure standards and guidelines are maintained.


The post holder will be conversant with and have an understanding of relevant national standards & requirements as authorized by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Hospital Food Review and Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) processes.

HACCP procedures and COSHH understanding.

  • Communicate effectively with all accountable staff, to explain technical and practical issues (e.g. Hygiene regulations, safe food handling, allergen training, Natasha's law).
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues within the wider Facilities directorate.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with each Ward manager and Nursing teams.
  • Report any incidents by way of the Trust's incident reporting system.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with Team Leaders, Housekeepers, Catering staff, Dietitians and Speech and Language.
  • Post holder is expected to be flexible in covering a colleague's absence
  • Responsible for communicating with accountable staff, either verbally, written and/or electronically.
  • Responsible for regularly contributing towards briefing catering staff through too box talks, team briefings and/or walking the floor.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective communications regarding range of services accountable for.
