Within NHS Tayside we are expanding opportunities for HealthCare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner.

These are new, exciting and innovative roles supported with education and training from both the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team and Dundee College.

Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award SCQF level 8 at Dundee College.


As an Assistant Practitioner you will be working at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams delivering high quality, patient-centred care, supervised and reporting to a Registered Practitioner.

This will require you to be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both verbally and in writing, to share our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do, and to demonstrate that you can work effectively within a team that behaves in accordance with our values.


We are seeking to recruit people who are committed to delivering outstanding patient care, take pride in what they do.

Professional manner & excellent communication skills are essential. You must work well in a high pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to changing situations.


Your initial induction program will be followed by a number of professional development opportunities, including clinical skills and ongoing comprehensive online learning hub.

This post will be based in ward 5 Hyper Acute Stroke Unit in Ninewells.

The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit provides inpatient care which is patient centred and aims to maximise each patient's potential for recovery which is supported by an excellent Multi Disciplinary Team.


Your performance must comply with the national "Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009" and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.

Hours of work are: 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work a variety of dayshifts, including weekends.
