The University of Cambridge's Information Services is looking for is looking for a highly talented Oracle Technical Consultant to help develop and maintain our Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Financials Application in order to support the Collegiate University.

You will work as part of a team responsible for the maintenance and development of this critical business systems.

The role will involve providing ongoing support and development of a broad range of Oracle technologies including core Oracle e-Business Suite, SOA and interfacing.

You will be expected to lead more junior Oracle Development resources and provide all aspects of technical systems support including setting up support procedures and implementing support best practices.

Providing Development and Technical skills in all areas of Oracle technology including, but not restricted to, the following:


  • Resolution of technical incidents/problems/RFCs:
  • PL/SQL code.
  • Open Interfaces work and API's for updating data in EBS.
  • Integration of new reports, concurrent jobs, etc in EBS.
  • Interface or report investigate / issue understanding.


  • Workflow

  • Understanding of Workflow and how to investigate issues or make changes to workflow.
  • Oracle Reports.
  • Implementing best practise security features in code.
  • Assessing and delivering new developments.
  • Creating/updating relevant technical documentation.
  • Involvement in testing of fixes and enhancements.
  • Liaising internally with Functional and DBA teams.
  • Liaising with Oracle Support.
  • Following ITIL processes such as incident/problem and change management procedures.
  • Additional knowledge of ODI, OBIIE and BI Publisher an advantage.

Your profile:

  • Strong Oracle Technology background with at least 5 years' experience of Oracle development.
  • Expert knowledge of the following applied within multiple relevant functional/business domains (E):
  • Systems analysis: requirements definition and management, user experience, and change management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain their own knowledge in their field.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation (E).
  • A track record of:
  • Contributing to the development of strategic functional plans which deliver institutional wide change.
  • Sharing technical/ functional knowledge and skills.
  • Shaping, as relevant, policy, strategy and practise in their area.
  • Experience of leadership and management of functional staff.
  • Degree/postgraduate level education/ level 7 vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
