Assistant Podcast Producer to join our team at History Hit.

History Hit is the UK's biggest digital history brand across podcasts, Video on Demand, social media and the web, with more than 100,000 subscribers to its TV and audio networks.

Its podcast network, including Dan Snow's History Hit, has millions of listens each month.


History Hit are looking for a dynamic and creative Assistant Podcast Producer who is knowledgeable about history and passionate about making it engaging and accessible for all - from the prehistoric, through to the medieval, early modern, and defining conflicts.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Create research briefs and scripts, working closely with the presenters
  • Work with audio/video editors to quality control recordings and final edits
  • Write descriptions with the Producer
  • Sound check guests
  • Edit audio using Adobe Audition
  • Assist the producer with day to day running of podcasts
  • Find, suggest and book the best and most interesting guests
  • Assist with production schedule
  • Arranging the technicalities and logistics of a recording/filming podcasts, often working across timezones.
  • Finding exciting and interesting ways to tell stories in audio/video
  • Work across multiple episodes simultaneously
  • Recording onlocation, sometimes at short notice
  • Ensure release forms and episodes materials are archived appropriately

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Skills matter, experience is useful, attitude is everything.

  • Experience working on the production of a podcast/radio programme
  • Ability to carry out detailed research
  • Source guests and offer treatments for episode formats
  • Proven organisational skills when looking after the admin needs of a production
  • Previous audio/video editing and sound design experience
  • Adobe suite experience (Audition, Photoshop, Premier Pro)
  • Ability to work well with a producer, team and external partners
  • Experience pitching and developing podcast ideas
  • Capable of spotting potential editorial issues before they arise
  • Experience developing strategies to grow the audience of a production.
