Position Summary
The individual will have responsibility for underwriting both new and renewal business, across the technology sector. The role will include PI, Commercial Combined risks across the Company platform.

The individual will operate within the underwriting policies and guidelines with autonomy within their underwriting authority

Key Responsibilities

Achieving annual new business target and renewal retention rates
Achieving profitability targets
Establish and build upon relationships with brokers, clients and Lloyds as necessary
Development of pipeline
Develop and execute on broker plans
Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that measures are in place to ensure compliance
Ability to effectively interact with peer level CNA internal & external business partners:
Strong ability to facilitate meetings and present to medium sized groups
Markets products and services through the brokerage community and makes visits
Collaborates with all team members and other product lines, working well with all underwriters
Determines acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
Prepares quotations and answers questions from Brokers, internal and external contacts and escalates issues as necessary.
Works with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
Prepares written communications on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations. Verbally notifies Brokers of decisions where appropriate in order to ensure clear understanding of the decision.
Competitor review
Keeps current on state/territory issues, regulations and trends.
Develop proficiency in all relevant CNA systems.
May perform additional duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Understanding of the Technology market and products
45 years experience in either an underwriting or broking capacity
Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Market facing with good trading / negotiation skills
Team player and embraces change
Knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices including development of training plans and external training (brokers)
Ability to effectively interact with peer level CNA internal and external business partners.
Ability to work independently.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions effectively.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other businessrelated software.
Determines acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines
Recommends appropriate pricing and coverage modification with clear underwriting of coverage and ability to explain how covers are relevant to industry
Analyses, quantity, quality profitability of risks and prepares reports for management
