The scheduled shifts are Monday to Wednesday - 7am till 7pm or 7pm and 7am (week on days followed by week on nights).

Polo Shift pattern offers ample opportunity to maintain work-life balance, as well as opens multiple opportunities for Overtime work.

Salary - £38,752 per annum plus companywide benefits

Position Summary


As a Line Technician Operator, you will work as a pivotal member of our line operation team, ensuring the manufacturing or wrapping machinery in our factory are set to standards, and basic maintenance tasks are carried out.


Our York Factory is one of the biggest confectionery factories in Nestlé, and the home of iconic brands such as Kit Kat, Aero, and Milkybar.

A day in the life of Line Technician Operator


To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department by taking responsibility for the safety and quality standard compliance of your area and ensuring machinery is clean, operating to standard and set up correctly for each format.


You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to problem solve technical and process issues that may arise on the machinery and using this knowledge to update the operational standards and close issues out at root cause.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain & improve safety and quality standards
  • Be the process knowledge holder for your area
  • Effectively manage line changeovers and communication to other employees and management
  • Working independently or as part of a team resolve operational challenges
  • Create and improve the operating standards
  • Carry out asset care tasks to ensure reliability of equipment
  • Carry out effective handovers by communicating key information to other colleagues and acting on handover information to enable a smooth 24/7 operation
  • Coordinate and facilitate planned activities on the line
  • Escalate to and work with the Engineering team on major technical issues

What will make you successful


You will be familiar with working to standards and you will have the ability to understand and breakdown complex issues, finding simple solutions through having a curious mind-set and inquisitive nature.

In addition to this you will;

  • Have a good understanding of Health and safety
  • IT Skills (MS Office, Excel, Teams)
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload
  • Good communication skills to be able to support the rest of the team and provide verbal direction
  • Evidence of strong mathematical problemsolving skills are advantageous to the role as you are a key player in the production planning process.
