GTS Transportation are working with a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for the freight and transit sectors - who are now recruiting for a Material Planner based on-site in Burton On Trent.

As a Material Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the planning and control of supplier orders, schedules, and forecasts.

You will also manage materials to support engineering changes, project/program launches, and runouts with mínimal businessimpact.

To ensure optimal supplier performance, you will generate and control supplier performance to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and control scheduling priority conflicts within suppliers.


Your duties will include:

  • Producing accurate and concise data/reports to support supply chain reviews.
  • Managing component availability issues, escalating and communicating effectively the issues and corrective actions, ensuring closure and eliminating reoccurrence.
  • Reviewing forecast material requirements, reporting supply chain concerns/ability to meet customer orders.
  • Reviewing inventory parameters and implementing strategies for materials to optimize levels to exceed KPI objectives.
  • Taking responsibility for data accuracy and maintenance of planning parameters within the MRP system.
  • Delivering supply chain solutions in project teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • Working closely with buyers and the supply chain team to maintain efficiency within the department.
  • Using delivery failure reports to find root causes of delivery failures and improve supplier performance.
  • Undertaking a variety of other activities within a material planner's capabilities as instructed by your manager.
You must adhere at all times to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental instructions and requirements. You must also take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.
