We're looking for a talented and ambitious Junior Trader to join our rapidly growing commodity trading team.

As a Junior Trader you will be responsible for purchasing energy to meet our customers' demand, managing the business' exposure to commodity price risk, and providing input into commercial and strategic decision making.

What We Need from Yü:

Play an active role in managing the purchase of gas and power for the customer portfolio via wholesale traded markets, in line with hedging and risk mandates.
Identify trading and commercial optimisation opportunities.
Provide insight on the wholesale markets to support trading strategy discussions and decision making.
Contribute to regular reporting on trading positions, performance and risk exposure.
Solve problems and deliver or communicate solutions in a structured manner.
Support the business in adhoc projects and trading system development.
Contribute to a continuous improvement culture driving market leading performance.

About Yü:

If you have what it takes you could be just what we're looking for

You will have a degree in maths, science, economics or similar numerate discipline.
You will have a minimum of 2 years' experience working for an energy supplier in a trading, pricing/costing or commercial role, or a similar business within a commodity trading role.
An understanding of UK and European energy commodity markets and the key drivers of price and consumption is essential.
An understanding of carbon, green certificate (ROCs, REGOS, VERs etc.) and PPAs is desirable.
You will have excellent excel skills acquired through extensive modelling of complex energy problems.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and meticulous attention to detail
Selfmotivated with an ability to work independently.
