Form strong relationships with internal customers/end users from departments across the Trust (e.g. HR, ICT, Operations, Finance) and advise them on the most appropriate supply channels. Ensure that internal customers are aware of Trust Procurement procedures. Communicate concisely and in a timely manner when providing advice or updates on information requests.

Sourcing ad hoc products and services as required by the Trust, identify recurring requirements to the Procurement Manager. Liaise and negotiate with suppliers on cost and delivery.

Expediting orders through the length of the supply chain and liaising with internal customers end users and the Trust supply team as required.

Interrogating, updating and maintaining the integrity of the Trust procurement systems Liaising with Procurement colleagues to resolve problems Ensuring the Trust uses where possible any National frameworks from organisations such as NHS CCS and the National Ambulance Procurement Hub Assisting in the evaluation of new products and services and working closely with internal customers as appropriate.

Assisting in the recording of performance information, including savings reports as required. Advising and guiding on procurement related matter to other departments within the Trust. Where appropriate assist new or junior members of staff in the use of procurement systems. Placement of purchase orders on behalf of the Trust once these have been authorised by the respective budget manager.


The post holder will be encouraged to develop their understanding and knowledge of procurement processes and be able to undertake analysis without support in order to make informed decisions or assist others in doing so.

The post holder will deliver services in accordance with Trust targets and assist in the introduction of, and acceptance of, purchasing initiatives.

The post holder must be able to handle irregular and unexpected workflows in a professional and organised manner.

The post holder must be able to maintain their professional attitude even when faced with agitated or frustrated internal customers/end users.


Some moderate physical activity may be required from time to time for instance in the moving of boxes or packages.

The post holder may be required to occasionally assist in stock taking in the Trust Stores. Implement actions to support environmental, social, equality and diversity and ethical policies in procurement processes. Ensuring compliance with internal processes in order to assist in the management of risk.

Other Procurement duties commensurate with the grade as directed by the departmental management.
