An exciting career opportunity has arisen within Perioperative Medicine for a Divisional Manager and an Associate Director of Nursing/AHP.

The new leadership structure has been developed to support the expansion of Clatterbridge theatres which is the site for the new Cheshire and South Mersey Elective Centre.

The C&SM Elective Centre is vital to support elective recovery at WUTH and across the region. There are 15 theatres on the Arrowe Park hot site and 10 on the Clatterbridge cold site.

The Divisional Manager and the Associate Director of Nursing/AHP are pivotal roles ensuring that the services consistently provide high quality patient care whilst delivering in conjunction with the Clinical Director the delivery of services including operational, quality and finance.

Assist and support the Divisional Director of Nursing in the smooth running of POM within the clinical division ensuring the delivery of divisional goals and KPIs with a particular focus on excellent, sustainable care delivery.

The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Director of Nursing to support the delivery of professional standards pertaining to the clinical services.


Perioperative Medicine covers 2 sites of Clatter bridge and Arrowe Park hospital with a portfolio of perioperative assessment, 26 operating theatres with a further 2 in build, Phase 1, 2 and 3 post operative care, a 6 bedded surgical ward, Sterile services department, acute and chronic pain services and department of anaesthesia.

The directorate has over 400 staff and over 45 medical staff to support delivery of surgical services to the division and organisation.

The organisation is a key member of the regional theatre network and works closely Cheshire & Merseyside Surgical Centre, GIRFT and National productivity teams.


The directorate provides surgical specialisms in Elective and trauma Orthopaedics (Regional Arthroplasty Centre) Robotics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Breast, General, Chronic Pain interventions, Urology, Head and Neck, Paediatrics, Vascular and Ophthalmology services.

To work with the Divisional Director of Nursing to develop and implement strategic plans for Nursing in the clinical service.


  • To support and assist the senior managers in effectively coordinating and implementing the Division's business and clinical strategies including the operational plan.
  • To assist and work with the Divisional Director of Nursing to continuously review, develop and adapt working practice and staffing requirements to enable the Division to successfully change, adapt and respond to shifting pressures, demands and ways of working
  • To identify improvements to meet and enhance patient experience and quality indicators
  • To support the Divisional Director of Nursing within the clinical division on Nursing/HCPC issues as part of the business planning process
  • To undertake relevant divisional projects as requested by the Divisional Director of Nursing.
  • To work collaboratively with the Divisional Triumvirate to develop both a strategic and operational plan for speciality services for the Clinical Division annually.
