Blood Production Assistant
Job Summary
Working as part of the processing team you will be responsible for the manufacturing of all blood that comes in from donors.
This is a vital part of the organisation, as this is where we make the blood products that go on to save people lives.
Join us and you'll handle a wide range of tasks, including the processing of blood donations, using a variety of specialised laboratory equipment.
We'll also look to you to keep our computerised production records up-to-date and to make sure that any incoming blood supplies are properly received and accounted for.
It's a role that demands great team working skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to precisely follow written instructions.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Processing the blood donations from our donors, with the support of your supervisor and other team members
- Testing of blood samples or validation/issue of processed blood components
- Undertaking precise repetitive and routine tasks, carrying out manipulation of equipment and handling blood bags and blood samples/donations on a regular basis
- Handling blood bags and a range of equipment
- Manually handling equipment on a daily basis weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, with appropriate training
NOTE - some apprenticeship opportunities will be available
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Knowledge and / or experience of working with computers and Information Technology such as Microsoft Office
Qualifications and Training
- No formal qualifications or experience required
- Demonstrates commitment to own continuous learning and development
