Interim Reward & Recognition Specialist - HR

Pay rate £335 per day PAYE

This opening assignment is for 9-10 months

  • Support the design and development of the reward strategy and principles, providing clear guidance for Business Partnering to operationalise and utilise in discussions and decision making
  • Ensure there is relevant stakeholder involvement and engagement to feed into the reward strategy and enable the building of capability in Business Partnering
  • Develop and maintain base pay structures that ensure market alignment and support organisational structure and design
  • Evaluate and design reward plans for compensation, benefits and recognition for the organisation to ensure that it delivers the intended outcomes to the business and our people
  • Ensure the successful delivery of key reward, compensation, benefits and recognition processes aligned to reward plans, ensuring collaboration with HR Operations and Business Partnering to understand requirements and effectively meet the needs of the business
  • Provide robust reward data and provide guidance and advice on impacts and risks to support union and/or staff negotiations
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes that impact reward in order to be able to highlight risks of current practices and areas for improvement in order to ensure packages are fit for purpose
  • Ensure that reward and recognition plans and packages are non discriminatory and actively encourage inclusivity in the workforce e.g. equal pay

"Role Requirements" - to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  • Good knowledge of current practices and able to support performance award design options (i.e. annual performance bonus linked with business performance)
  • Theoretical understanding of reward
  • Understands the approaches to benchmarking factors determining reward
  • Understands methods of strategic evaluation and assessment of reward practice and how to shape them
  • Understands reward communication needs at managerial level and organisational level
  • Awareness of what drives business performance and implications for reward and recognition
  • Experience of creating, developing and implementing pay, reward and recognition solutions aligned to the business and people strategies within a large, complex and unionised organisation
  • Experience of developing strategic total reward interventions to improve performance, behaviours and culture
  • Experience of continuously improving reward and recognition practices and processes
  • Experience of thinking strategically and looking at long term goals
  • Solid experience of remuneration benchmarking practices and data sources
  • Experienced in job levelling and job architecture (particularly Hay job evaluation and Willis Towers Watson levelling)
  • Ideally strong experience in job families pay structuring (may have been involved in previous development and implementation)
  • Strong experience of annual base pay review and able to support design thinking on new arrangements for TfL given that we are moving away from performance rating driven frameworks for this
  • Able and willing to work in a small close knit project team under pressure
  • Ability to develop reward programmes, packaging elements to attract, motivate and retain individuals and groups
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources
  • Ability to adapt approaches to encourage buyin and engagement
  • A good communicator
