Description

Our client specialises in developing, designing and producing test rigs for combustion engines, transmissions and electrical drives, complex testing and assembly systems, as well as devices for leak testing for automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.


Job Purpose:


We have an opportunity for an experienced PLC software engineer who would be responsible for the design and development of high value special purpose machinery predominantly for the automotive industry.

It is a key role with a strong focus on supporting ourElectric Drive and Battery Systems as well as future technologies.


You will join an innovative team and there is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills in a highly technical and interesting live manufacturing environment and provide support to our processes.


  • Working as part of a Project Team in conjunction with Mechanical Design and Hardware Controls disciplines.
  • Production of Software documentation
  • Functional Design Specification and detailed software design specifications.
  • Commissioning of machines whilst in build at our premises.
  • Supporting site commissioning teams.

For success in this role you will need the following skills:

  • Experience of PLC & HMI programming techniques in special purpose machine environment in one or more of the following: Siemens S7/Schneider/Rockwell
  • Experience in Fieldbus configuration and diagnostics, profibus, profinet, Modbus TCP/IP.
  • Preferably automotive industry experience/exposure.
  • Ability or aptitude to transfer software language skills.
  • Capability to visit customers on a worldwide basis.
