Description

My client, an Energy business with an international footprint, are looking for someone to manage and lead the Project Accounting function in order to ensure accurate invoicing and reporting of financial performance of operations contracts, as well as to provide necessary support to operational and commercial teams in order to ensure successful contract delivery from a financial standpoint.


Responsibilities:


  • Use financial analysis skills to bring underperforming projects to the attention of finance and commercial management as soon as possible.
  • Ensure that costs and recoverable expenses are accurately and timely accounted for, including a monthly analysis of gains and losses on costs not recovered.
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong control environment, enforcing quality controls, and performing spot checks.
  • Increase the accuracy of balance sheet reporting.
  • Communicate with external auditors about projectrelated issues such as revenue recognition, work in progress, and cost accruals.
  • Assist Project Managers with daytoday project accounting.
  • Ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting is carried out
  • Ensuring that journals are posted accurately and consistently in accordance with revenue recognition policy.
  • Lead monthly project review meetings in collaboration with the Finance and Commercial teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring that team members in the assigned work area(s) maintain adequate levels of technical competence.
  • Examine the project accounting team's work and train and mentor them where weaknesses are found.
  • When assigning new projects to the project accounting team, collaborate with commercial functions to assess capacity and complexity.


I am looking to speak with people with a track record of working in this kind of role/environment; applicants should be technically strong as well as having strong systems skills and having held some previous people management/leadership responsibilities.
