About the Role:

As a Zookeeper at our Zoological Gardens, you'll play a pivotal role in the care, maintenance, and security of animal enclosures while engaging with visitors through presentations, tours, talks, and events.

Your Duties:

Ensure the welfare and husbandry of zoo animals, overseeing enclosure cleanliness, food preparation, feeding, and safety.
Supervise and guide volunteers, students, and researchers in enclosure maintenance and support.
Participate in continuous training in animal husbandry practices.
Maintain meticulous records of animal activities, including health, quarantine, and vet records.
Patrol the zoo, manage visitor interactions, and handle unforeseen situations with tact and professionalism.
Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including veterinary care, law enforcement, PR, and management.
Organise and execute interactive events, fundraisers, and hospitality programs involving the public.
Operate and maintain machinery and equipment while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, performing daily checks and managing key enclosures.

Essential Criteria:

Experience:Minimum of one year of relevant zookeeping experience.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding the role of a zookeeper and modern zoo practices.

Customer Care Skills: Excellent interpersonal abilities with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Skills: Ability to lead and manage volunteers, students, and researchers.

Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication for various stakeholders.

Organisational Skills: Effective planning, implementation, and maintenance of animal husbandry.
