Description

Following and extensive refurbishment program of the discharge lounge at the Royal Free Hospital, we are recruiting for a Discharge Lounge Administrator who will play a vital role in the newly upgraded lounge, ensuring the smooth and efficient transition of patients from hospital care to discharge.

You will be responsible for managing administrative tasks, coordinating patient transfers and discharges, and maintaining effective communication between various departments within this state-of-the-art discharge lounge.


  • Coordinate and schedule patient transfer and discharges on Cerner in realtime.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to patient information, transport arrangements, and discharge procedures using the upgraded systems.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, ward staff, and administrative colleagues to ensure seamless patient flow and timely discharges in the enhanced lounge.
  • Handle patient inquiries, provide support, and address any concerns or issues that arise, utilising the upgraded resources and amenities available.
  • Assist in coordinating transportation arrangements for patients, checking for accuracy
  • Collaborate with the discharge lounge team to maintain a clean, comfortable, and patientfriendly environment
  • Support the implementation of standard operating procedures and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide administrative support, including managing paperwork, scheduling appointments, screening inpatient discharge summaries, and handling phone calls

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping, making the most of the Cerner EPR system
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry record management, and MS suite
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple priorities, adapting to the improved workflow in the refurbished discharge lounge.
  • Knowledge of healthcare processes and familiarity with discharge procedures is advantageous, taking full advantage of the new and improved protocols.
