Description

Our private family is seeking an experienced housekeeper/cook/nanny to join their family team of staff at their family in North Kensington.

This is a busy family, of 3 children and 4 dogs, with a large house which has (5) bedrooms, (3) bathrooms and lots of stairs

The family also have full-time second housekeeper who will share the day to day responsibilities listed.


Formal experience essential for training and understanding the importance of detail, however this job and environment is a very informal role, with a roll your sleeves up and get the job done attitude, with no fancy airs and graces.


Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm

Salary; depending on experience

Children duties required but not limited to;
" Preparing and cooking healthy meals daily, and cleaning up afterwards for whole family. Making sure varied and balanced meals are prepared - and snacks, lunch boxes and water bottles for the children are provided as and when needed.

" Organising all children's clothes / kits for school days, school sports matches and other events. Making sure bags are packed correctly and according to their schedule.

" Make sure all school clothes are named and labelled and if any new sizes need ordering / replenishing

" Pick up and drop off support with school runs, play dates and activities (flexibility needed to help with possible last minute requests as per family's requirements)

" Proxy parenting - staying over when parents occasionally travel. Being a responsible adult for the arranging and organisation all aspects of children's wellbeing in parents' absence.


Housekeeper duties required but not limited to;
" Cleaning to a very high standard with attention to detail: to include hoovering, dusting, washing all floors, cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen, utility room, inside windows, cleaning of marble, brass and fine furniture

" Sweep, wash down and keep tidy back and front paved gardens

" Restocking and replenishing logs, coal and kindling throughout the house

" Purchasing and changing household flowers as requested

" Feed and water plants inside the house and outside when required

" Laundry to include bed linen, clothing, delicate items and hand washing. Ironing and taking care of all family's clothes to a high standard

" Managing and maintaining adults and kids wardrobes throughout. Folding clothes neatly daily, removing all dog hair with brushes and carefully care taking of cashmere knits, silks, cottons and fine fabrics. Storing these away in wardrobes neatly and with consideration.

" Dry cleaning drop-off and collection

" Responsible for grocery shopping (shopping for food locally) and maintaining accounts and budgets - to include online weekly shop and daily top ups

" Keeping fridge clean and discarding out-of-date items

" Support when the family are entertaining

" Maintaining stock control and inventory of household sundries such as cleaning products, bin bags and light bulbs

" Responsibility for household rubbish, recycling and garden waste to be put out and kept neatly and in order.

" Ensuring all areas of the house are kept tidy, organized and maintained. Knowing the house, how it works and how the family uses it


General
" Answering the door and phone, taking messages, managing all deliveries

" Informing family of any necessary concerns to do with any systems or required household maintenance, carrying out any other tasks that the employer may reasonably ask

" Meeting of tradesmen and contractors for the house e.g. security alarm, plumbers, gardeners etc with good clear communication to and forth with the family and office.

" Liaison with the family PA to ensure smooth running of the household

" Staying over at the London property from time to time when the family are on holiday for security purposes and to look after the pets.

" Occasionally travelling with the family to their Somerset residence, to assist when required.

" Daily feeding and walking the dogs (4)

" Looking after pets (grooming the dogs, cleaning out the fish tank).

" Taking dogs to vets and giving medication when necessary.


Requirements;
" Experience working in a similar role

" Excellent communication skills

" Discreet

Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
