Our Buying & Stock Control team is vital to the operation, along with our goal of being the #1 independent delivered wholesaler in Scotland.


The Job


Stock Controller responsibilities include supplier liaison, placing orders, tracking shipments, overseeing stock checks and maintaining reports of purchases and pricing.

To be successful in this role, you should be highly organised and familiar with supply chain procedures. Good communication skills and an ability to interact with suppliers, clients and internal teams is imperative.

Ultimately, you will increase profitability and effectiveness by maintaining optimal stock levels of quality products at all times.


This role also is a gateway into a Buying role and a proportion of your work will be dedicated to learning about buying and you will be responsible for handling a number of our drinks suppliers.


Stock Control Core responsibilities (50% of your role)

  • Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking or running out of stock
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers
  • Enter purchase details (product codes, supplier information, invoices and pricing) into internal databases
  • Place orders to replenish as needed
  • Reporting quality issues and stock shortages, claiming credits where appropriate
  • Reclaiming promotional /marketing stock / retros from suppliers
  • Monitor slow moving stock items
  • Review low stock reports
  • Liaising with freight forwarders to arrange timely collection of orders
  • Review of 'Goods In' diary for expected deliveries
  • Checking all relevant supplier invoices
  • Working with Operations to manage perpetual stock counts
  • Communicating to team new products/products shortages/out of stocks/quality control issues/slow movers to push/retros
  • Dealing with stock returns from customers raising credits where appropriate
  • General stock administration.

Trainee Beer Buyer 50% of role)
As a Trainee Buyer your mission is simple. To lead and control procurement activity within your category.

You will get involved in a variety of projects and contribute directly to driving the overall success of the business.


  • Developing a substantial commercial portfolio of World & Craft Beers
  • Taking ownership of the supply chain process
  • Effectively liaising with suppliers on range development and commercial terms
  • Working with brand owners to create promotional revenue, whilst maximising the impact of market promotions
  • Working with all key sales channels to achieve the budgeted sales and margin targets.
  • Producing detailed, informative, on brand copy for all drinks listings

What we are looking for

  • Must have a proven track record working in FMCG & drinks.
  • We are looking for selfmotivated, energetic and enthusiastic people.
  • Good Knowledge of World & Craft Beers would be preferred.
  • Attention to detail. This is super important as our reputation is built on being the best
  • Experience of stock systems is advantageous
  • MS Office competent
  • Excellent communication skills written and spoken, but also listening and understanding.
