Description
As the Policy Advisor, you will have a key role in the directorate.

We will support you in gaining the necessary knowledge, and developing your skills, to be able to provide advice on the policies surrounding the provision of aids to navigation and licensing on marine projects.

Thus ensuring Trinity House's requirements on the statutory marking of these projects, following the appropriate (IALA) guidelines, are adhered to.

Our stakeholders include Government and Regional Assembly departments, Environmental Bodies, Offshore Renewable Energy developments, Oil and Gas developers, Ports, Local Authorities and members of the public.

You will also work closely with the rest of the navigation directorate ensuring that our statutory function of the superintendence and management of local aids to navigation is carried out effectively.

This will include managing our Local Aids to Navigation Reporting System database, monitoring the standard of local aids to navigation provision and ensuring the effective administration of documentation.

You will provide a key interface between Trinity House and other government agencies including marine licensing bodies, The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office and The Maritime and Coastguard Agency

The Navigation Directorate is a small team that sits at the heart of Trinity House. As well as setting the requirement for aids to navigation in our waters, the Directorate fulfils key statutory functions.

These functions include ensuring marine projects comply with maritime safety requirements through the appropriate licensing, and the superintendence and management of the over 11,500 local aids to navigation provided by local Harbour and other authorities in England and Wales.

Trinity House has been an important part of the maritime community in England and Wales for over 500 years. We are responsible for the lighthouses, light vessels and buoys that help to guide mariners safely through our waters.

As most of the goods we use daily in the UK are imported, Trinity House plays a critical role in maintaining prosperity and security.

We are proud of our reputation having provided a valuable service to the UK for so long, but we are also a forward-thinking organisation.

It is our ability to meet new demands and the changing requirements of the modern mariner that has kept us relevant and effective for 500 years and continues to do so.

We are committed to equity within a respectful, diverse, and inclusive environment.
