About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a
HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE to join our Regional team to work in
Aberdeen.



What you'll be doing

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager for all duties
  • Attendance at and participation in daily and weekly safety briefings as required
  • The safe operation and routine maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment required during the normal duties being undertaken
  • Undertake daily and preuse inspection of all vehicles, plant and equipment to be operated, record and report to the Operations Manager all defects found
  • Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civil works, litter picking, patch repairs/potholes and other such activities as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Perform all duties in a manner which safeguards the health, safety and welfare of self and anyone else affected by the work being undertaken and which complies with all legislative and company procedural requirements
  • Stop work and report to the Operations Manager any instances where anything affects or has the potential to affect the health, safety or welfare of self and anyone else affected by the work being undertaken
  • Report immediately to the Operations Manager any accidents, incidents, near misses or other unplanned events
  • Undertake Winter Service operations consisting of precautionary salts, patrolling and snow clearance on a planned and out of hours reactive call out basis
  • Participation on the Winter Service and Emergency Call Out rotas
  • Complete and maintain drivers' hour's record books and Operative allocation sheets on a daily basis and submit these to the Operations Manager weekly
  • Report immediately to the Operations Manager any contact or complaints from members of the public, road users, the client team, emergency services or any other third party.
