    Job Title: Social Worker

    We are recruiting for a Social Worker to join our Permanency Team at Bedford Borough Council.

    About the Role:

    • To carry out complex, challenging and high-risk work with increasing independence as your skills and experience develop.
    • To work within relevant current legislation and procedures of Bedford Borough Council.
    • To collaborate with children, young people and families/carers to assess needs and deliver services in accordance with the social work team's service area.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • To work in partnership with children, young people and families/carers, building effective relationships and promoting participation in decision making.
    • To undertake assessments in accordance with statutory/regulatory and operational standards, policy and procedures for the service.
    • To plan, implement and review interventions for children, young people and families/carers.
    • To manage workload independently, seeking support when necessary.
    • To engage proactively with colleagues and organisations to identify, assess, plan for and support the needs of children, young people and families/carers.
    • To maintain accurate records safely and confidentially, producing well-structured reports and recording analysis and judgements.
    • To carry out duties in accordance with the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and other policies designed to protect employees and service users from harassment.
    • To meet requirements of the Professional Capabilities Framework and registration with SWE in respect of practice standards, conduct and professional development.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • A qualified Social Worker with a minimum of one year's post-qualification experience in a social work role.
    • Experience of working with children, young people and families/carers, particularly in relation to assessing needs and delivering services.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks and managing workload effectively.
    • Familiarity with relevant legislation and procedures, including child protection and safeguarding.
