Band 8:

SCP 17 to 22 - £28,770 - £31,364 pa Qualification bar at SCP 19 + Sleep in allowance


Days:37 hours per week


Nights:35 hours per week


Contract:
Permanent


Annual Leave:
Starts at 29 days and rises to a max of 32 days with service. (plus, public holidays).


Pension:
Defined benefit scheme with 16.8% employer contribution


Career Progression:

Tailored training and development opportunities, if required, we will support you to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare, which staff are required to have within two years of joining the team.


Professional Support:
Regular supervision and annual appraisals.

About the Role Bring your experience working with children and young people to our Bradford care homes. Help us create childhoods full of positive experiences and happy memories. Building unique relationships. Offering support and encouragement.

Guiding children and young people through a critical period in their lives. This is what you'll be doing every day as a residential practitioner in Bradford.

The children and young people in our care have suffered significant trauma, neglect or abuse and may also be facing other complex issues, making it vital that we provide them with a secure and stable environment.

In addition to reducing the number of children living in our homes we have reviewed our staffing levels and structures in our specialist homes.

These are the homes caring for children and young people with the most complex and enduring needs.

  • Part of a team committed to providing inspirational care tailored to children and young people with complex needs able to work with children and young people from very diverse backgrounds who have experienced trauma
  • Consistent in working to a high standard, so that everything is in place to help young people achieve their maximum potential
  • Physically fit enough to carry out the requirements of the post
  • Ability to demonstrate ''unconditional positive regard'' to the children is fundamental to the role

About You:


  • Have Grade 4 or above in Math and English or functional skills Level 2 Math and English or equivalent (see job profile)
  • Have either:
  • Attained Level 3 or level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or be willing to undertake.
  • Level 3 Children & Young Peoples Workforce Diploma with social care pathway
  • NVQ 3 caring for children & young people
  • NVQ 3 health & social care

However, if you don't have any of the above qualifications but you have great transferable skills and meet the other requirements, we will support you to complete Level 4 in Residential Childcare, completion of this in the first 2 years of your employment are part of the regulations we must adhere to. - Have at least 1 years' experience of working with children and young people, preferably including some residential experience.

  • Be expected to work in the mainstream/ specialist homes providing care and support to children and young people living in medium to long term residential care. Need to be resourceful, committed, and able to adapt their approach depending on the situation and environment.
  • Be able to work in accordance with our model of care in a multiagency setting.
  • Can work shifts including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the service, you will also be required to undertake sleep in duties.
  • Have the flexibility to work across the different homes when needed.
