Press Officer.


About the job

The job will have accountability for effectively delivering TfL's media relations and PR across high profile and often complex issues to enhance and protect the external reputation of TfL.

To organise media interviews and brief senior officials on the likely areas of questioning. You will be required to attend and either note take or record the interview to ensure accurate reporting and to liaise with the media on follow-up questions

Contract Duration:3 Months

Hours: The job will require taking part in an out-of-hours rota (3 periods where on call, normal hours of 9am-5pm core and early and late shifts too, 7:45am -3:45pm and 11am-7pm)

Skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Good knowledge of all media sectors
  • A good understanding of effective media relations techniques
  • Knowledge of current PR and media technologies, including digital and social media
  • Able to demonstrate highquality written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to absorb, understand and explain large amounts of wide ranging information, often at short notice to tight deadlines
  • Proven experience in handling media relations
  • Familiarity of a customer facing role
