The opportunity:
The claims department at Markel aims to be the market leader in the provision of an efficient, cost effective, creative and professional service to our brokers and clients.
The claims team works with the underwriting teams in order to facilitate close communication and exchange of ideas, and is an integral part of the product and customer service delivered to our clients.
We have a great new opportunity to join our claims team in our Leeds office.The
Claims Handler role will work in our Prompt Resolution Team providing an excellent claims service on any claims which can be handled with a light touch and where fast settlements are in the best interests of Markel and the Insured.
What you'll be doing:
Responsible and accountable for claims covering varied classes of business but with a focus on Professional Indemnity, Employers Liability, Public Liability and Property claims
The ability to prioritise work, have good time management skills and be able to work to deadlines to see claims through to final settlement in a proactive manner
Ensure good and regular lines of communication exist with key brokers and ensure that relationships are maintained
Our must have's:
Have either a claims background or legal background - insurance claims experience or any Legal background / qualifications
An interest in developing your longer term career within insurance / claims
Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and must become fully competent with our in-house systems.
Have excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organisation skills
