Job Purpose and Mission


This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading the demand planning processes of the category and inputting into the S&OP process.

This is delivered through analysing and advising on sales forecasts to deliver business and customer service objectives.

The partner will also model and act in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Initiates and leads the development of statistical forecast based on shipment history;
  • Performs forecast maintenance and refine model parameters to generate statistical forecast;
  • Forecast system management to allow good business unit forecast integration;
  • Measures variances between forecast and actual demand, analyses cause and effects, recommends corrective actions and publishes results;
  • Participates in Business Discussions and challenges Business Units on their forecast, using historic data in combination with a good sense of Business Drivers (Demand Reviews);
  • Collaborates with business units to identify and resolve discrepancies between annual operating plan forecasts and demand forecasts;
  • Drives the process to aggregate demand and drive a consensus view of demand for the promotions;
  • Drive the Sales & Operation process with the different stakeholders on their category: forecast analysis, demand reviews, risk assessments ;
  • Leading proactive stakeholder communications that highlight risks and opportunities to senior leaders (on the category, incl. promo);

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


The qualified Demand Planner we're looking for has a minimum of 2 years' experience in a demand/supply planning position, using various forecasting techniques and algorithms in a consumer products related environment.


  • Bachelor or Master degree;
  • Working knowledge of integrated demand forecasting systems;
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Excel;
  • Ability to use forecasting systems to develop strategic and tactical solutions;
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fastpaced and changing environment, without compromising the quality of the output;
  • Knowledge and working experience with S&OP or IBP Processes;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Good customer focus approach;
  • Being able to work in a multicultural, dynamic environment with ability to gain alignment and influence crossfunctional teams;
  • Excellent command of the English language;
  • Result and solution driven approach to work.
  • APICS certification;
  • Working knowledge of Logility;
  • Project experience;
  • Food or other shelflife managed planning experience;
