An exciting opportunity has become available to be part of the Surgical Day Case Unit.

SDCU is a 20 bedded unit, with nurse led/ criteria led admissions and discharge.

The unit can be very fast paced as we can have up to 50 patients coming through the unit in a day.

We care for patients undergoing procedures in a variety of specialties:
Gene surgery, Urology, ENT, Maxillo facial, Dental, Plastics, Orthopaedic, Breast and Vascular.


We have a Treatment room where we run a number of clinics: Bone Marrow clinics, Prostate Assessment and biopsy (Trans-rectal Ultrasound and Local Anesthetic transperineal), Haematuria One stop and Endo -Anal clinics.


We have produced a number of post op care information sheets which are given out at the pre-assessment stage of the patient journey.

You will be advised to familiarize with these as you will need to refer them when performing a nurse led discharge.

Our team is very supportive of new starters on the ward to help develop your new surgical skills. We are able to offer both part time and full-time positions, helping you to manage a work/life balance.

The Nursing Associate (NA) will assist the nursing team in the delivery of direct care to

Patients within Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The NA will be required to provide care independently providing a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity as directed and delegated by the nurse in charge, including the delivery of care to meet a cohort of patients; admission and discharge processes, meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of patients; and will be included within the registered staff numbers.

This post works within a multidisciplinary team with registered and non-registered staff.
