Ateliers London is a leading British designer and manufacturer, specialising in luxury upholstery and bespoke furniture for some of the world's leading interior design professionals, spanning high end residential, hospitality, superyacht and International luxury sectors.


Based in West London, our manufacturing facilities are home to an experienced team of skilled craftspeople and technical designers, combining traditional craftsmanship and an enviable knowledge of furniture.

With over two decades of successfully producing high quality one-off items to large scale FF&E overseas projects, our team combines passion, transparency and a collaborative approach to deliver the finest in custom made furniture.


About the Role


Due to the growth of the business, we are seeking to expand our Production Team and are looking for a Production Controller/Junior Production Controller to join our fast paced and friendly team.

You'll work closely with both the Production Team and Workshop Team Leaders. Primarily focusing on planning and implementing the Production Schedule.

Ensuring that the 35 workshop staff effectively utilise the Production iPad App, which provides real-time updates throughout the production cycle as items are completed in each department.

Working on an exciting mix of bespoke furniture projects, you will be involved in a variety of duties. With a strong work ethic, excellent organisational skills and a background in high-end furniture construction.


The role is quite niche and we understand that it requires a very niche specific set of previous experience, however, if you align the Personal Characteristics we would like to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan sales orders into the onsite manufacturing workshop, and monitor the production control & scheduling on all sales orders in the workshop. Reschedule project work orders when assigned a priority or when a client's site is delayed.
  • Monitor and drive the workshop output and weekly/monthly/quarterly target for each production department, from Carpentry, Bodywork, Sewing, Cutting, Polishing, Assembly and Upholstery. Increase the workshop's monthly output without compromising the quality. Achieve the set targets on projected weekly/monthly/quarterly capacity and target.
  • Work with the department team leaders to lead the workshop.
  • Provide visibility on workshop capacity, providing weekly and monthly reports on production output.
  • Generate production plans, master production schedules and capacity plans and create long term KPI plans.
  • Liaise with the Sales and Procurement teams for the client's requested delivery dates and procurement lead times.
  • Responsible for the overall management and control of sales order planning/scheduling and the handover packs to the workshop.
  • Operating and updating the Production APP providing visibility on the daytotoday Workshop progress.
  • Encourage and assist the workshop staff to use the workshop APP.
  • Monitoring and improving CSI incidents.
  • You will work with the department team leaders to lead the workshop, efficiently monitoring the workshop's output and monthly target.
  • Liaising with Sales throughout the manufacturing process and updating Sales when the order is completed.
  • Assisting with problems and providing technical advice where necessary.
  • Being proactive in the planning of work to ensure all avoidable problems are avoided.
  • Workshop workflow analysis and improvement.
  • Other workshop duties as they arise.

About you - Personal Characteristics

  • Confident Leadership skills: Able to motivate and unify a team. Able to assemble the right people 'in the room' to collaboratively solve challenges.
  • Tech Savvy and able to use macOs. Adapt to the Production iPad APP and suggest system improvements.
  • Graduate of Interior design or Furniture Design
  • Bilingual is desirable but not essential
  • Passionate for luxury upholstery & cabinetry
  • Interest in gaining new knowledge and experience in luxury furniture manufacturing.
  • Looking for long term employment and career progression.
  • Flexible thought process and adaptable to high pressure situations.

About you - Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of furniture manufacturing/production control & planning. Within departments such as; Carpentry, Bodywork, Sewing, Cutting, Polishing, Assembly and Upholstery.
  • Experience of managing workshop staff and ability to motivate workshop staff to increase the workshop's monthly output without compromising the quality. Achieve the set targets on projected weekly/monthly/quarterly capacity and target.
  • An understanding of furniture manufacturing work orders, factory operations and CAD.
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of bespoke upholstery and luxury furniture production/manufacturing
  • Excellent communicator
  • Exceptional organisational skills and excellent time keeping and ability to meet multiple deadline
