The Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy Laboratory team are looking for administration support for the office and laboratory. You will be a part of a small, dedicated team of experienced staff and be mainly office based. We are part of the wider bone marrow transplant team in Clinical Haematology.

Main duties of the job


To support the laboratory with general administrative tasks, inputting data, communicating with outside contractors, assisting with recording and delivery of stock, and will be required to deliver documents across the City Campus as required.

The haematology team at NUH are looking for a team of highly motivated colleagues to join our integrated forward thinking service in the provision of an NHS-England accredited CAR-T program beginning in 2023.

To ensure a high quality service, the Trust has provided funding for multiple new posts in all aspects of CAR-T provision including roles in the medical, nursing, pharmacy, stem cell laboratory and apheresis teams as well as a large capital investment into equipment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading centre at the forefront of research and clinical innovation in haemato-oncology which will provide the CAR-T service for the East Midlands.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


Under the direction of Biomedical Scientist staff:

  • To ensure patient worksheets and accompanying data are kept in order, scanned, uploaded and filed in a timely manner.
  • To look up and record patient results ready for second checking by laboratory staff.
  • To assist in updating the cell storage inventory system ready for second checking by laboratory staff.
  • Be able to use information technology systems (particularly Excel) and the Hospital IT systems to help keep selected databases up to date.
  • To assist in the printing of labels, worksheets and laboratory documentation as required.
  • Visually inspecting and logging incoming stock delivery and assist Medical Laboratory Assistant in stocking storeroom shelves as required.
  • Assist with hand delivery of confidential documentation across the City campus as required.
  • Must have a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and dress appropriately.
  • Any other reasonable request commensurate to the post.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • To be educated to GSCE Grade 5 or equivalent standard, including Maths and English.
  • Experience of Microsoft packages.
Desirable criteria

  • 5 GCSE passes Grade 5 or above, or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 2 administration
Experience

  • Knowledge of Hospital IT systems eg NOTIS

Salary:
