Description

Ward C29 and B26 are the postnatal and antenatal wards at QMC and are seeking a fulltime ward administrator to work Monday to Friday.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and administrative service to the ward team and C29 and B26 ward managers, to assist the smooth and effective performance of their duties and make a direct and positive contribution to the work of the team.

The post holder must exercise initiative to organise their own workload within the constraints of defined deadlines. Knowledge and experience of ward administration would be beneficial but not essential.

A good standard of education and experience of Microsoft Office packages including a good knowledge of Word and Excel is essential.

You will need to provide comprehensive administrative service to the midwifery staff within the ward area.

QMC wards C29 and B26 are looking to employ a motivated and conscientious ward administrator to join our friendly and dynamic multi professional team caring for women and their families during a pivotal time of their lives.

You will have experience in administration in a health care setting.

You will have the ability to prioritize and respond to planned and unplanned situations and assist in the smooth and efficient running of the unit.

You will need to solve problems and issues sensitively, develop enhanced skills and support others to achieve this. Initiative and the ability to problem solve are integral skills to this role. The post holder must exercise initiative to organize their own workload within the constraints of defined deadlines.


A key part of this role is commitment to working as part of a dedicated team by supporting the maternity team to deliver the service safely and consistently across all maternity inpatient areas.

This post will also support the midwifery clinical education team specifically in the management and documentation of training.


You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure in what can be a fast paced, exciting and emotionally charged environment.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and administrative service to senior members of the directorate team, to assist the smooth and effective performance of their duties and make a direct and positive contribution to the work of the team.

The post holder must exercise initiative to organise their own workload within the constraints of defined deadlines.

  • Assist senior members of the team with implementing, maintain and sustaining lean thinking methodology to improve productivity
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to the clinical staff within the ward area, to include monitoring quality and audit activity, data entry and the production of charts and graphs as required
  • Assist in the daytoday administration management of workforce and education activities, to include OLM data entry and producing training reports
  • Provide administrative support and timely workforce & education information related to the maternity service as required by ward manager/midwife in charge
  • To provide personal assistant support for senior members of the team/ward manager
  • To work in collaboration with the ward administrator for all maternity inpatient wards across both sites.
