    Overview

    We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in accounting and audit practices, with a deep understanding of HMRC regulations, VAT, and Excise Duty compliance. Experience in managing foreign exchange, investments, and cash flow would be helpful.

    This is a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving efficient financial operations.     Main Duties

    Audit & Financial Reporting

    • Lead the internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and liaison with auditors.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records in compliance with accounting standards.
    • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounts and supporting reconciliations.

    Taxation & HMRC Compliance

    • Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns and ensure compliance with Excise Duty regulations.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for HMRC queries and audits.
    • Keep abreast of tax legislation and ensure internal controls align with current laws.

    Foreign Exchange & Treasury

    • Monitor and report on foreign exchange exposures and execute hedging strategies where appropriate.
    • Assist with the management of cash positions across currencies to optimise working capital.

    Investments & Cash Flow

    • Execute, track and reconcile money market investments.
    • Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts and variance analysis.
    • Provide recommendations to improve capital efficiency.

    Compliance & Controls

    • Maintain and improve financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
    • Support the implementation of financial and operational compliance frameworks.
    • Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory filings and regulatory reports.

    Finance System Development

    • Play a key role in the review of any Finance systems; assessing capability, effectiveness and future proofing.
    • Supporting with the implementation of any new finance systems

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

    • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
    • Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in a financial accounting role.
    • Strong knowledge of UK tax rules, including VAT and Excise Duties.
    • Experience dealing with HMRC and audit processes.
    • Proficiency in financial systems.
    • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
    • The ability to lead and manage a team.
