Job Introduction

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum based on a 36 working hour week.

Assessment Consultation Therapy (ACT) is a specialist therapeutic service provided by Surrey that works directly with young children and adolescents who present and display with harmful sexualised behaviour. Our aim is to support and provide treatment for children and their families, via a therapeutic and cognitive approach, listening to understand how and why they maybe be behaving or feeling the way they do.


The ACT team are a supportive and close-knit team, working from our dedicated office in Woking, where we undertake direct assessments on site with our children and young people.

The nature of the work we do means there are opportunities to work holistically and collaboratively with colleagues from professional networks as well as partners across social care, education, police and youth support services.

We also have on site access to our Safeguarding Leads team, meaning that you will be well-supported with your work, with plenty of opportunities for expanding your knowledge, skills and expertise around treatment and models of care.


About the role:


About you:

We are looking for a committed and empathetic Therapist with a psychology or CBT background.

You may have previous therapy experience working within a mental health setting, substance misuse, police or probation services for example, which will provide a wealth of transferable understanding and experience to this role within ACT, where experience of child protection and an understanding of the risk factors associated with sexually harmful behaviour are essential.


Key skills and experience needed to enable you to be successful in this role include:

  • Experience of working independently to provide therapeutic services using a cognitive approach
  • Knowledge of assessing and managing referrals
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to your work
  • An ability to present complex information in a simple and sensitive way
  • A willingness and commitment to creative approaches of treatment and models of care
As this role is part a specialist service you will need to hold the relevant post graduate qualification in social care/ mental health as well as have current membership to the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)


Due to the nature of this role there may be times when you are required to work some unsociable hours.
