Bed Factory Head of E-Commerce
A new extremely exciting role has become available at Bed Factory Direct.


Bed Factory Direct is a leading player in the bed and furniture industry in the United Kingdom, committed to providing high-quality and stylish solutions for modern living spaces.

With a strong online presence, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of E-commerce to lead our digital strategy, drive sales growth, and optimise the online customer experience.


Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the Head of E-Commerce will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the overall e-commerce strategy for Bed Factory Direct.

This includes all aspects of e-commerce functions, digital marketing, trading, development, design, merchandising, and the end to end customer experience.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with Bed Factory Direct senior management team to produce an online strategy that aligns itself with the overall brand, customer and product proposition considering all elements of the ecommerce function. Ownership of the delivery of this Omnichannel digital strategy for the Bed Factory Direct business.
  • Working with the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the ecommerce P&L considering the elements of traffic, sales KPI's, marketing, staff, capital and operating expenditure and how they all contribute to an optimised P&L for the business. This will involve daytoday P&L management, as well as working with the Commercial Director to create and deliver against a 24month financial plan for Bed Factory Directs online business.
  • Lead and deliver a development roadmap by working closely with the development partner agency, Magic 42, and Bed Factory Directs internal key stakeholders such as finance, operations, logistics, and customer service. Drive and prioritise the delivery of this development roadmap to support the commercial goals of the business and deliver a bestinclass customer experience.
  • Oversee and manage ecommerce trade, ensuring all onsite activity, campaigns and promotions are delivered on time and of a high standard, delivering against the commercial goals of the business.
  • Oversee and manage the resources to support the traffic strategy of the business, considering digital traffic strategies around SEO & PPC as well as the CRM strategy of the business.
  • Manage, create and analyse ecommerce KPI reports to optimise and improve all online functions including traffic, conversion, basket value and end to end customer experience.
  • Ensure all design aspects of the site is delivered towards the latest industry standards including responsive design, W3C standards and general customer appeal.
  • Working closely with appropriate agency resource and design teams, ensure the ecommerce channel well represents the brand.
  • Proactively develop and implement comprehensive ecommerce strategy to drive sales growth.
  • Optimising sales & marketing channels such as google shopping and affiliate marketing to drive sales growth.
  • Manage and develop the Bed Factory Directs ecommerce team through regular one to one's, PDR's and setting clear objectives. As well as internal resources, the role will also involve the management, where appropriate, of agency resources so the need to optimise our return on investment from these stakeholders will be key to the success of the role.
  • Collaborate with the Bed Factory Directs purchasing team to maintain a suitable allocation and high stock availability as well as driving optimise product sell through to support margin targets.
  • Work with the customer care and warehouse teams to ensure the customer service is of a high standard.
  • Work with the Head of Retail Stores to maximise the true Omnichannel sales approach for Bed Factory Direct ensuring appropriate targets are in place to optimise sales, creating the best experience for the customer.
  • Work with the business as it considers new areas for its digital and ecommerce strategy including areas such as B2B sales and potentially supporting the manufacturing side of the business.

Personal Specification:


  • At least 5 years of Senior ecommerce management experience.
  • Experience managing the online budget and P&L.
  • Understanding of the full end to end E-Commerce Operation
  • Ideally some experience in setting up or operating in digital marketplaces eg Ebay / Amazon
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence key business stakeholders.
  • Highly driven and determined with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to make commercial and strategic decisions using data, insight, experience and intuition.
  • Strong commercial trading and entrepreneurial mindset.
