The role:
We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant, with excellent communication literacy, and numeracy skills, to support children in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
The role will include facilitating learning within the classroom as well as developing independence skills, turn taking and emotional resilience.
This may involve providing support with physical disabilities, social emotional needs and learning needs. Knowledge of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum is an advantage but not essential.We are looking for someone who:
- Has a minimum qualification of GCSE grade C in English and Maths
- A genuine interest in children and the ability to motivate and inspire as well as adjust differentiated tasks to meet the needs of the individual and excellent behaviour management skills
- The enthusiasm and creativity to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and wellbeing are achieved
- Effective communication skills with the class teacher, with parents and staff across the school
- The ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible outlook.
- Knowledge of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum is an advantage but not essential
- Interest in areas such as Down's Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, speech and language disorders and other known disabilities, vulnerable children and children with delayed learning needs are an advantage
Job purpose:
- To work alongside colleagues and class teachers to provide support to children in class or 1:
- Provide practical advice and support to the children, particularly in respect of planning and resources and where necessary provide emotional support and encouragement to enable the child to achieve the targets set
- To provide support for pupils, the teacher, and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all
- To encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
