Job Summary
Medical Receptionist in General Practice

Role is 27.5 hours per week over 5 days (P/T) - there is potential for additional hours.

The work pattern is Monday to Friday 1pm to 6.30pm

Knowledge of working in a Healthcare setting - desirable but full training will be provided

Flexibility to adapt to the various roles and challenges of general practice

A competent multi-tasker.

Reliable, punctual and good time management absolutely key to this position. It can be a difficult role front of house in a GP surgery, but equally it is very rewarding. There is scope for growth and all training will be provided.

Salary:
£21000+ /year


Responsibilities and Duties
Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, to be responsible for:

  • Answering the telephone, making appointments and dealing with patient enquiries.
  • Processing repeat prescription requests
  • Maintaining the appointments system
  • Taking and processing payments
  • Any other general administration or IT tasks.
  • Assisting the dispensary team
  • Improving any of the above processes.
  • Following NHS protocols with regard to confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection.
  • Assisting the Practice Manager and partners in any suitable administrative tasks.
  • Keeping the Practice Manager and partners informed of all practice issues that arise.

Qualifications and Skills
Education requirements

5 GCSE's A-C grade - essential

Computer literate - essential

Evidence of post-education training and learning - desirable

Experience of working in a busy office environment - essential

IT literate and knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel and Outlook - essential

Knowledge of the NHS structure and systems, confidentiality - desirable

Previous experience in General Practice, secretarial skills and general administration -desirable.


Benefits
Salary is £21000+ P/A Pro rata (where full time is 37.5 hours)

NHS Pension scheme or alternative available (auto-enrolment) with practice contribution of 14.3% of salary. Automatic enrolement into Life assurance (with NHS pensions only)


4 weeks holiday per year pro rata (increasing to 5 weeks after two years) plus bank holidays in addition pro rata.
