We are looking for a part time care assistant to support a lady in her own home in Jesmond. There are some morning shifts from 9.30 to 11.30 and some afternoon shifts from 5.00 to 6.00.

She needs support with taking her medication and checking that she has her falls monitor on. She visits her husband in a care home in Gosforth on some mornings. This involves taking her to the care home and waiting nearby then taking her home again.

Carers with their own car would be paid £5 per visit towards petrol on top of the time spent for the visit.

The visit in the evening will be to helping her to take her medication and checking that she has what she needs for her evening meal.

There will also be some domestic tasks including cleaning, making the bed and assisting with laundry.

There are currently two other carers who support her seven days a week in the morning and who do the calls for some of the evenings but there will be times when cover is needed when they are away.

About the role
This is a job with a difference, working directly for the family rather than a care agency. The lady is 92 and has a number of care requirements.

She is independent minded, creative and loves to spend time gardening. She suffers from Alzheimers and so gets confused.

Her care is primarily managed by her daughter who lives nearby.

About You

If you have are enthusiastic, committed, kind and have experience of providing care in a professional capacity as a care assistant, live in carer or similar, we'd love to hear from you.

Own car would be helpful for visits to her husband in Gosforth care home.

The shifts are relatively short so it would suit somebody who lives not too far away.
