    Job Title: Chief Scientific Adviser for Health

    The Welsh Government seeks a renowned expert in a health-related scientific discipline to lead the provision of high-quality, independent scientific advice.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the research, development, and innovation landscape in Wales.
    • Co-lead Health and Care Research Wales.
    • Champion the application of science to improve health outcomes and equity.

    This is a senior appointment at Deputy Director level, with a starting salary of approximately £92,537. The role can be based at any of the Welsh Government's main offices, with flexible and hybrid working options available. It is offered on a fixed-term or secondment basis, typically for a minimum of three years.

    Requirements:

    • Nationally or internationally recognised in a health-related scientific discipline.
    • Strong track record of applied research and evidence of impact on policy or practice.
    • Deep scientific expertise and outstanding communication skills.
    • Credibility to influence at the highest levels across academia, government, and the NHS.
