You should have good IT skills and be competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) and adobe.

Experience of using a case management system would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided. You will also be given access to, and required to use, online accounts (e.g.

the online court system, anti-money laundering searches, legal library and precedent forms etc) as well as office equipment (scanning, copying and printing).

Family Law Department Vacancies:

Hart Reade LLP is a thriving East Sussex based law firm. We have a busy and well respected Family Department and are currently looking to expand our dedicated Eastbourne team.


Solicitor or Legal Executive (including newly qualified applicants)

Paralegal (including those training/working towards a qualification)

Responsibilities will include:

  • Clear and accurate note taking
  • Preparing Form E, raising questions on Form E
  • Analysing paperwork and giving concise summaries on their content
  • Instructing experts
  • Instructing Counsel
  • Preparing court bundles (using Adobe to be court compliant for bookmarking and bundling training can be provided)
  • Drafting client cost estimates and preparing invoices
  • Routine correspondence with solicitors and clients
  • General preparation for Court hearings including drafting statements.
  • Providing support to the Partners of the Family Department, which will include dealing with a varied, high net worth, caseload.

Legal Secretary:


Applicants should have:

  • Excellent secretarial skills
  • Fast, accurate audio typing
  • A keen attention to detail and be highly organised
  • Confident IT skills. You will be required to prepare Court bundles using Adobe for uploading to the Court online portal, as well as uploading other documents to the portal.
  • Recent legal secretarial experience preferably in family law.
