Reed Engineering have partnered with a a well-respected and dynamic engineering and manufacturing business, focussed on the design and tier 1 manufacture of high and low voltage power distribution systems and wiring harnesses for sectors including automotive,motorsport, commercial vehicle, rail, marine and aerospace.


We are currently looking for Assembly Technicians with good crossover experience (assembly, hand tools, production operative in technical manufacturing) for permanent work paying from £22,000 right up to £27,000 depending on experience.


  • Manufacture of complex high and low voltage electromechanical assemblies including:
  • Installation of electrical components such as contactors, relays, busbars.
  • Installation of printed circuit boards
  • Installation of high and low voltage wiring harnesses.
  • Prototype build of new designs where some level of process development and hand
modification may be required.

  • Work with the inhouse engineering team to support the development of assembly
processes suitable for production.

  • Build of production assemblies following production processes and controls including
standardised work.

  • Performing in process and end of line tests and checks.
  • Completion and maintenance of build records and documentation.
  • Work with our clients to provide onsite support where required.
  • Occasional manufacture of basic electrical harnesses.

Skills Required:

  • A good understanding of best working practices
  • Ability to build complex assemblies following assembly drawings and work instructions.
  • A good understanding of manual assembly processes such as component installation, torquing
  • A good understanding of manual manufacturing methods such as drilling, tapping, filing and the
use of hand tools.

  • A basic understanding of mechanical and electrical component drawings
  • An appreciation of the importance of working to controlled processes with detailed build
processes and record keeping within a production environment.

  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Skills preferred:

  • Experience of working in both prototype and production environments and an understanding of
the different requirements would be an advantage.

  • Engineering background is an advantage.
  • The ability to manufacture basic wiring harnesses with suitable instruction and training.
  • Experience of mechanical or electrical design tools is welcomed
  • Experience of Process Engineering would be an advantage.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft tools would be beneficial.
  • Have a professional attitude and ability to talk with clients while working on customer sites
  • Be able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • High proficiency or fluency in English
  • Flexible attitude must be willing to work to customer deadlines which sometimes requires
flexible working hours

  • Team player you will be part of an experienced and tight knit team so ability to work with
others is a must
