The Opportunity

Our prestigious client is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their growing team in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor on a part-time permanent basis.
Our client is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to be based in their Holme-on-Spalding-MoorDepot.

You will be a part of a dynamic team with your main focus to oversee the Health and Safety a manufacturing/packing environment.

This is a fast-paced role and will require you to have experience within a similar role & great attention to detail.


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Working closely with supervisors and managers, providing advise and coaching for H&S policies.
  • Working with HR and technical teams to provide safety support in audits
  • Create and action H&S plans in the workplace, adhering to legal guidelines
  • Prepare, evaluate and enforce policies, procedures and facilities to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to ensure legal compliance and identify possible unsafe conditions for repair/improvement (on such equipment as; lifting equipment, forklift trucks, fire extinguishers, ladders and racking)
  • Generate action plans to encourage improvement of practices and housekeeping with the workforce
  • Carry out regular workplace inspections
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to discover root causes and assist in the prevention of further incidents.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Drive hazard and near miss reporting to encourage the workforce to maintain their safety and that of others.
  • Maintain the incident reporting system and management action plans.
  • Develop emergency procedures for the site and maintain records for the Fire Log Book.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new preventative measures.
  • Carry out risk assessments for new activities and review on a regular basis or whenever changes are made or have an impact on operations. Maintain updated Safety Data Sheets to support the COSHH assessments.
  • Provide Health and Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks for staff, visitors and contractors.
  • Update Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Lead monthly H & S Committee meetings, ensuring company compliance is adhered to.
  • Maintain monthly and quarterly Health and Safety Key Performance Indicators.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Team player
  • Prior experience within a food packing/production environment
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health protocol
  • Driven and motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure

Desired Skills & Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Membership of IOSH.
  • Extensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience of Health and Safety management.
This position offers 28 days holiday per year (pro rota) including bank holidays and flexible hours of work

This role is working approximately hours per week, they are flexible with the start and finish times of work. Opportunities for overtime if desired.

Part-time hours: 20-25 per week


Salary:
£13.00 per hour

Experience:

- health and safety: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • NEBOSH certificiate (preferred)
