The Healthcare Assistant position at the Red Oak Care Home is an excellent opportunity to work within a small residential care home situated in South Shore Blackpool.

Healthcare Assistants are expected to be friendly, caring, reliable, have good timekeeping skills, organisational skills (as this job is lone working) and sensitive with the confidence to communicate with service users and families.

Healthcare Assistants are also expected to provide a high standard of care in the home and undertake certain domestic and personal care duties to assist service users in their day to day lives within the home


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• To help Service Users get out of bed in the morning and help bath/shower.
• To provide a high standard of care, including hygiene, continence, mobility, dressing and general care.
• To carry out regular checks on Service Users at intervals determined by the person in charge, and record.
• To ensure the Service Users' privacy and dignity is always maintained
• To answer emergency bells or calls from Service Users immediately and seek further assistance if necessary
• To assist Service Users throughout the day with whatever they need, maybe even just for company, reassurance or a refreshment.

Domestic duties include:
Cleaning, making beds, sorting washing, hoovering, cooking etc

• To promote a safe and caring environment maintaining general tidiness and promoting a homely atmosphere
• To adopt a positive and pleasant attitude, an approachable manner and give attention to Service Users needs.
• To conform at all times with procedures in the home.
• To administer medication at designated times, as prescribed by the GP.
• To entertain the service users during the afternoon with activities and trips out
• To be available to attend all mandatory training and other appropriate training as determined by the Home Manager. This may be internal or external to the home and during day shift hours.
• To be available to cover sickness and holidays.

Working hours are Monday - Sunday.

NVQ level 2 preferred but not essential as in house training will be given
