The Data and Infrastructure team leads the development, commissioning, and investment management for the ESRC's data collections (such as Understanding Society and the birth cohort studies) and data services (including the UK Data Service).

The Programme provides strategic direction for investments and facilitates collaboration and knowledge exchange through engagement with the investment teams and other stakeholders.

The Programme is also responsible for the monitoring and assurance of the investments to ensure that the data collections are of high quality and meet the needs of the social science research community, and to ensure that the data services and facilities enable safe and ethical use of data in research and innovation.

The Skills and Methods team is responsible for delivering ESRC's objective to develop and maintain the long-term health of a world class UK social science research base.

The Grants Delivery Team (GDT) is a centre of expertise within ESRC responsible for the delivery of funding opportunities and commissioning of research and other activities in the social sciences.

Core GDT activity includes the end-to-end processing of grant proposals including managing high quality peer review.

GDT has a critical role in contributing to ESRC's shared objectives to create a world-leading portfolio of research, data and training.

Working in partnership with all teams across ESRC, GDT aims to set high standards for delivering efficient and innovative solutions to commissioning activities.

The team also works more widely within UKRI, for example contributing to development of the UKRI Funding Service and sharing knowledge with colleagues in other Research Councils to develop and promote good working practices.
