We are offering the opportunity to be a part of Blood Science team supporting both the rapid molecular service and the BBV serology testing on each of the six hospital sites.

There are positions available at all sites with varying roster patterns available depending on the site.

  • Hammersmith site early and late sessions, 7 days, no nights.
  • All other sites combination of day and night cover, for a 24/7 service.


You will be working within the AP team of staff covering the BBV serology testing on the Abbott Alinity instruments as well as the rapid COVID-19 and other respiratory virus testing on the molecular platforms (mainly Cepheid Genexpert).

You will be required to book in samples on the LIS, perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, and assist with stock checking.

You will be responsible for ensuring the results have been automatically transmitted and deal with or escalate any problems in a timely manner.

There will also be regular QC and environmental testing to carry out. Post sample analysis you will triage serology samples for sending onto the hub I&I laboratory.

Previous experience in molecular and/or serology testing at this level is essential.

You will have excellent manual dexterity and technical skills and the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.


You will be working within the local blood science or microbiology teams, dependent on site, covering the rapid molecular testing plus the serology samples mainly from the local ED.

As well as running the analysers, you will be required to book in samples on the LIS, perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, and assist with stock checking.

You will be responsible for ensuring the results have been automatically transmitted and deal with or escalate any problems in a timely manner.

Previous experience in molecular techniques at this level is essential.

You will have excellent manual dexterity and technical skills and the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
