SEMH Teaching Assistant
Magisters Education are in search of an SEMH Teaching Assistant bfor a Secondary school based in South Tottenham.

This is a Behavioural Support/SEMH Teaching Assistant role with an ASAP start.

A background in Youth Work, Behavioural support in Education, Social Work Sports organisations is ideal but not mandatory.


Requirements:


  • Special needs teaching assistants must have experience working with mental health problems and complex behaviours
  • Excellent behaviour management
  • Must have a current DBS and on the update service

Responsibilities:


  • Be able to build positive relationships with young people and staff
  • Supporting pupils with Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Have proven experience working with pupils with SEMH / SEN in a school or alternative provision
  • Have the ability to differentiate work according to each child's individual needs
  • Be resilient, show enthusiasm and commitment
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be responsible for the planning, delivery and monitoring of learning for your pupils
  • Be able to work on your own initiative


The main thing is that the SEMH Teaching Assistant is diplomatic, confident, unphased by challenging behaviour, and committed to building a good rapport with the student(s) with the aim of improving their outlook to both their academic pursuits and to theirlives outside of the school environment.
