The Role


The foreman will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, on time and within budget, along with managing equipment and materials required.

This involves ensuring all company processes and legal regulations are implemented, and that all required documentation is completed as necessary including recording daily work on site.

Pay will be dependant on experience, between £17 - £19 per hour.


Our working weeks are 42.5 hours long, with that being done in a 4 day week when we are working from home (who doesn't like having Friday off).


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote safe working practices on site
  • Ensure company procedures are followed in regard to our health and safety obligations
  • Ensure site operatives fill out all necessary paperwork
  • Follow risk assessments and suggest amendments where required
  • Carry on dynamic risk assessments during to day operations
  • Attend pre start meetings and progress meetings, with contracts manager and clients
  • Ensure the completion of works are on time and on budget
  • Schedule and organise the daily activities of site operatives and subcontractors in accordance with the programme
  • Share relevant information with the contracts manager
  • Ensure all works are carried out to approved method statements
  • Complete a daily site log to record production on site
  • Capture and report any extras requested by the Client and report resources needed to the Contracts Manager
  • Feedback to the Contracts Manager where project expectation cannot be achieved and/or discuss opportunities for improvement in the future
  • Manage equipment and delivery of materials
  • Organise delivery of any materials required
  • Keep record of all ordered and delivered materials
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available for your site
  • Manage all equipment on a daily basis, ensuring daily checks are carried out by operators

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in the construction/civils industry
  • Experience working in remote locations, and aware of the issues this brings
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, and the responsibilities required
  • Proven time management, communication and organisational skills. You must be able to provide references
  • Excellent people management skills with leadership experience
  • SSSTS/SMSTS qualification
  • First aid qualification
  • Full and clean driving licence

Key Measures and Targets

  • Deliver your projects on time and within budget
  • Uphold Clixbys' high standard of work, delivering projects snagfree
  • Maintain 'green' status across all projects, in accordance with the RAG health and safety management system
  • Increase in near miss reporting, and to deliver the actions required to prevent accidents/incidents
  • No RIDDOR reportable occurrences on your sites
