- *Location: Flexible, the role will be contracted to our Wilmslow office. Through hybrid working we offer great home and office-based working opportunities and more general flexibility over where you work to be productive. There will be times when you will be expected to attend the office to collaborate with colleagues or travel due to business need.

Salary range:
£29,895 - £33,865 pa

The Lead Intelligence Officer role

The Intelligence Department is responsible for interpreting information and intelligence and disseminating intelligence obtained from internal and external sources to support the delivery of the ICO's strategic enduring objectives.

The Department ensures that intelligence plays a central and strategic role throughout the ICO and is used effectively to guide tactical and strategic decisions.


A Lead Intelligence Officer is responsible for:

  • Conducting general and themed research and analysis.
  • Developing and completing intelligence collection plans.
  • Developing intelligence products.
  • Building intelligence pictures and identifying new and emerging trends to facilitate a riskbased approach to regulatory activity.
  • Creating intelligence logs, maintaining databases and intelligence records.


You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

You will be able to demonstrate effective planning and organisation skills, with the ability to recognise and manage priorities.

You will be competent in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products and maximising the use of the internet to conduct open-source research.

Previous experience of working in an intelligence environment and proven analytical skills would be desirable. If you don't meet every requirement, but believe you'd be a good fit for the ICO, we'd love to hear from you
