Job Title Useful Vision Team Leader


Salary £30,000 FTE. Part Time 21 Hours pw.

Approx ( £16,800 pa ) Plus, travel expenses and pension.


Essential You will be required to work a minimum of two weekend days per month.


Place of work Based at Lemington Community Centre, with work throughout the north east region.


Report to Managing Trustee Useful Vision


Main Purpose of the Job


Lead the Useful Vision team; plan and run activities for visually impaired children and their families ensuring the events are enjoyable, beneficial and in line with the ethos and aims of the Useful Vision charity.


Main Duties and Responsibilities
1 Lead the team - planning and organising activities, including; pre-event planning, risk assessments, communication & administration ensuring professional well-run activities in line with the aims of Useful Vision for

VI children and their families. Activities range from early years sessions, skills workshops to large family days out.


2 Research and identify accessible venues and activities, travelling throughout the region to assess accessibility and suitability before the event.


3 Ensure all pre-event planning is completed including risk assessments, and working with the administrator and communications officer ensure appropriate communication with facilitators and families, so events are professionally run, well advertised and enjoyable for all.


4 To provide advice and support both during activities and at other times to helping families find information to access specialist services that meet their needs.


5 Recruit and Manage Volunteers to support you and the families in a variety of roles to ensure the activity is safely and professionally run.


6 Evaluate activities to ensure they have met their aims and provide this information for compilation in funding reports, and for future planning.

7 At all times work to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people. Including making sure all training is up to date for the team and volunteers.

8 Attend any relevant training including Visual impairment awareness, safeguarding, first aid etc. and adhere to all Useful Vision policies
