We are recruiting for a brand new position, an Underwriting Analyst within our Speciality team based in London. This role will be an integral member of the underwriting team. You will support written premium goals, loss ratio, and growth opportunitiesfor the team by providing data, MI and backup to the two senior underwriters, providing superior customer service to brokers and clients. For the right individual this position will also provide the perfect springboard into an Underwriting position. Once establishedwithin the position this individual will be responsible for renewal business and develop into handling new business with a low level of complexity.
Specialty London Professional Lines has two core focusses: Executive Assurance and Errors & Omissions (E&O).

Executive Risk focuses on Financial & Commercial Institutions. Our geographic focus is the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, Japan & South Africa. We are leaders in Banks and other Large Financial & Commercial Institutions. We offer a broad range ofFinancial & Commercial Institutions products (FI PI, Crime, D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Transaction Liability).

These are professional service firms usually headquartered in US with regional, national and global exposures; comprising, lawyers, accountants, consultants, insurance brokers, Architects, Engineersand some miscellaneous professional service firms.


We work closely with our teams in Bermuda and New York to ensure we maximise our opportunities whilst enabling us to deepen our pool of knowledge.


What you'll be doing:


  • Gather and review information on financial conditions, risk exposure, loss history, and economic trends that may impact the terms and conditions offered to the client.
  • Extract internal data and research external information to identify trends impacting product line.
  • Provide forms/coverage interpretations and advise on additional coverage needs, understand and evaluate exposures, and underwrite policy change requests.
  • Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management system and adherence to documentation standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of information inputted into all appropriate systems and verify that all necessary documentation is in the file.
  • Maintain current and continue to develop new effective relationships and/or regular contact with clients. Build strong relationships with employees across the organisation.
  • Once embedded within the role, you will manage renewal business under limited supervision prepare analysis of exposure and present to the Underwriter for signoff.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant experience in Underwriting Support.
  • Practical experience of working with data. Advanced level of proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Ability to follow process and attention to details.
  • Negotiation and relationship building skills.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills and the ability to exercise sound business judgement.
  • Willingness to work toward insurance qualifications.
