    Role Overview

    A well-established contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to join its commercial team.

    This is an office-based role, working closely beneath the Bid Manager and alongside Electrical and Fabric Estimators, supporting the preparation of competitive and accurate tenders across a range of projects.

    Site visits will form part of the role to support estimating accuracy and commercial understanding.


    This position would suit a detail-oriented estimator with a solid grounding in mechanical and electrical estimating who is looking to develop further within a structured bid team.

    Key Responsibilities



    Preparing mechanical and electrical cost estimates for tender submissions



    Reviewing drawings, specifications and employer's requirements



    Undertaking take-offs and producing detailed bills of quantities



    Liaising with the Bid Manager to support pricing strategy and tender returns



    Working collaboratively with Electrical and Fabric Estimators to ensure coordinated submissions



    Attending site visits to assess scope, access, constraints and risks



    Obtaining and assessing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors



    Assisting with value engineering options and cost-saving opportunities



    Supporting post-tender queries and bid clarifications where required



    Maintaining organised estimating documentation and cost databases

    Candidate Profile



    Proven experience in an M&E estimating role, ideally within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment



    Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems



    Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately



    Strong numerical and analytical skills



    Confident working within a bid team and taking direction from a Bid Manager



    Comfortable working alongside multi-discipline estimators



    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (industry-standard tools advantageous)



    Full UK driving licence or ability to attend site visits independently
