Tabernacle Street Surgery, Skewen, Neath


ORGANISATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS

Accountable to: 1. (Managerially) Practice Manager - the post holder is directly responsible to Mrs Adele Evans.


2. (Reporting) Practice Manager - the post holder reports to on a daily basis.


3. (Professionally) The Partners - the post holder is accountable to in respect of professional issues.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a medical receptionist you will be seen as an important part of the team.

It will be your responsibility to deal with doctors at the practice and other senior medical staff enabling them to manage important administrative and secretarial tasks so that they can spend more face to face time with patients.


General tasks you will be responsible for include:
Ø Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail

Ø Answering phone calls

Ø Typing letters, correspondence etc.

Ø Preparing medical notes for solicitors.

Ø Preparing medical reports for DVLA, Solicitors, Local Council etc

Ø To provide administrative support to the Practice Manager.

Ø Filing.

Ø Making appointments.

The job description may be updated from time to time to reflect the ongoing changes in the surgery.


COMPETENCE
You are responsible for limiting your actions to those which you feel competent to undertake.

If you have any doubts about your competence during the course of your duties you should immediately speak to your line manager / supervisor.


SUPERVISION


Where the appropriate professional organisation details a requirement in relation to supervision, it is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure compliance with this requirement.

If you are in any doubt about the existence of such a requirement speak to your Manager.


RISK MANAGEMENT


It is a standard element of the role and responsibility of all staff of Tabernacle Surgery that they fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions.

This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards.


RECORDS MANAGEMENT


As an employee of Tabernacle Surgery, you are legally responsible for all records that you gather, create or use as part of your work within the Organisation (including patient health, financial, personal and administrative), whether paper based or on computer.

All such records are considered public records, and you have a legal duty of confidence to service users (even after leaving the practice).

You should consult your manager if you have any doubt as to the correct management of records with which you work.


HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS


All employees of Tabernacle Surgery have a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

Employees are required to co-operate with management to enable the Practice to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment

£10.47-£11.00 per hour
