As a part your duties, you will work alongside the Head of Technology and support development and optimization of IT support framework as well as act as a 1st and (over time) 2nd line of technical support for various Energy systems and services.

You will use your natural gravitas, professionalism, organizational and technical skills to deliver optimal support to our end users and support day to day IT operation of Mitie Energy.

Main duties

This role will be based in our London Shard office, however pls do note that the role will require weekly/bi-weekly travel to our Northampton office and regular visits to our datacentres in London and Woking.

Reporting to the Head of Technology, the role of the IT Support Engineer will include following responsibilities:

Provision of 1st and (over time) 2nd line support to business users including hardware builds and provisioning/decommission of new hardware, end-user Windows software installation & configuration on Windows 10/11 desktop environments and terminal services/RemoteAppplatforms, domain account management & service account management (i.e.

Exchange 2013/2016/2019 on-premise accounts), remote access management (RADIUS, VPN), permission management, data backup/restore activities
Record, prioritise and track tickets in service management system
Diagnose incidents and problems
Make recommendations to system modifications
Regularly visit our datacentres in London and Woking to perform tape rotation, hardware replacements and other BAU or project related tasks as/when required
Identify and report networking issues
Coordinate with 3rd party vendors
Asset management & license tracking
Contribute to the maintenance and continued improvement of our Information Security Management System (ISMS)
Carry out tasks in accordance with ISMS standards and objectives
Manage IT asset procurement, identify parts, obtain quotes, place orders and manage stock
Monitor IT systems & services and send appropriate notifications to business and 3rd line support
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
Complete other duties as and when assigned
Role requirements
Excellent knowledge of Windows 10/1- at least 2-3 years' experience
Good understanding of Windows-based environments (Active Directory, GPO's, Windows updates, remote connectivity)
Good understanding of Windows server environments, terminal services and RemoteApp server environments
Practical knowledge of Computer Hardware and Hardware Maintenance
Good understanding of backup systems, tape and disk backup solutions
Good understanding of VMware virtualization solutions and concepts
Good understanding of TCP/IP, Network elements and services, Wireless and VPN environments
Knowledge of Linux operating systems - advantage
Knowledge of Cisco routing/switching/security equipment - advantage
Knowledge and experience in cloud solutions (Office365, Azure) - advantage
Knowledge of PowerShell, Windows Scripting or batch scripting - advantage
Knowledge of SQL server and PowerBi Reporting Services - advantage
Able to develop Documentation, KBs, manuals and perform configuration of service monitoring frameworks
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Excellent troubleshooting skills, out of the box thinking and ability to provide workaround quickly
Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain/improve SLA
Self-learner, ability to learn and adopt new technologies
Self-motivated, can-do attitude
Customer orientated
Ability and willingness to grow in the IT field, especially in the domain of system administration & infrastructure projects, to adopt knowledge and use it
Ability to take and handle multiple responsibilities
